Pumpkin Spice Tragedy

Just a few days ago, being in the holiday spirit that I am, I attempted to make these scrumptious looking Pumpkin Spice Muffins.

I mean just look at them! So cute, so dainty, so fall-ish, so absolutely yummy, so delectable and darn good looking!

And yes, they are from The Pioneer Woman so I just knew that they would live up to my expectations.

Well, I am sad to say they were a disaster. No, a tragedy. My beautiful little muffins did not rise and had the consistency more of a pumpkin pie than a light, airy muffin. I blame it on the storm. The rain sabotaged my muffins. Or perhaps I forgot the baking powder?...oh but that would NEVER happen!

So, my sad little muffins were a grave disappointment. I, of course, had to go ahead and eat them...the mushy little buggers that they were. However, though he bravely ate one or two doused in the delicious cream cheese frosting, Jared has noticably avoided them.

I refuse to give up on them. I have faith in the little muffins. So I suppose I shall try again another day...with less rain and more baking powder.

Here is the recipe link, just don't make them on a rainy day!

Wedding Inspirations

As some of you may know, my wedding colors are brown, blue/turquoise, and yellow. When I began thinking about wedding colors I was overwhelmed with all of the possibilities! So I decided to just start thinking about my decorations/location/theme/etc. and hope that the colors would choose themselves. And they did! Here are a few of my inspiration pieces and how my colors popped up!

We thought about the location for quite awhile, mulling over the possibilities, before we realized (duh!) that we already had a location! Jared's family owns Country Junction USA, a country/western dinner show venue, and we have everything that we wanted, quite literally, in our own backyard. Because of our backgrounds and the location, choosing the country/western theme was the obviously decision. Now the goal was to make this a CLASSY western themed wedding (aka no mini plastic boots and felt hats and absolutely NO tacky vests and bolo ties!)

I have always loved the brown/blue color combination, so when I found these blue tinted mason jars sitting in a corner at CJUSA, not only did I fall in love with them, but knew I had to use those colors. Be prepared to see them everywhere, because like I said...I'm obsessed with them!

I LOVE sunflowers and that's where the yellow comes in! The sunflowers will make appearances in everything from desserts to decorations to bouquets and centerpieces.
I"ll save the rest for the wedding, hope to see you all there :)
